I've done half of my notes for one entire subject and a 2500 word major history essay which means I can post on lj :) Then its off to fix up a tutorial essay and email it to my tutor, do Walter Benjamin study notes and email my ANZAC/Remembrance Day article. Happy days. Also, I have major sore mouth for no apparent reason (though I'm willing to wager its something to do with getting my wisdom teeth out) and have to get to the dentist.
Anyway The Rebel Flesh/Almost People
I didn't think much of this storyline overall. I felt like I was watching Bladerunner Dr Who style or something. The way that the flesh had the memories of a human life was exactly like replicants and the question was the same, "What makes somebody human?" or Do androids dream of electric sheep? to quote Philip. K. Dick. It was still better than Pirates of the Whoniverse however :P The problem with this series is I can't judge any of the episodes properly (with the exception of the standalone Doctor's Wife) until I know the overall series arc as that is a much bigger part of the plotline compared to last series.
I felt like I needed subtitles for Chris (I mean Marshall Lancaster :P) but I have been very tired of late and so my accent-o-meter concentration levels are way off at the moment. I mean, the other day I started to struggle to understand Nicola in Touching Evil and she's got nothing on Marshall. However, I've never had any problems with Karen Gillan. Weird?
The actress playing the group leader (I'm terrible with names) was annoying for the first 15 minutes of TRF because I couldn't figure out where I'd seen her before and then my Mum and I both got it at the same time. MATT SMITH... PARTY ANIMALS LADY... SQUEEE.... LADY WHO CALLED MATT A FLOPSY BUNNY= LOVE. Also, that actress looks like a lady I work with for realsies. Creepy.
I'm liking Rory alot this series! I like that he is so kind and compassionate just like his occupation. I liked how he tried to help Jen, even if that majorly backfired. When Jen started talking about a little girl in her red shoes (were they gumboots?) I thought straight away off Amy Pond. Is that significant? Who knows?
My Mum called a flesh Doctor five minutes into the episode. Damn you Mum. Can't a girl get surprised anymore?
That guy's son was adorable and incredibly lil kid like. Loved the happy ending with the red birthday balloons. What is with Moff and red eh? I'm sure somebody talked about colour symbolism and the new new who at some point. Does this somehow relate back to Amy again?
Go humanity go... tell those bastard corporations about what they are doing... why does the history/politics cynical student in me instantly think, "eh that'll never work. What do corporations care about the little people? Money is what makes these guys tick... and money as fast and as cheaply as possible." Though of course they could always threaten to go to the papers. That could work.
EGAD WHAT IS WITH THE ENDING MOFFAT YOU BASTARD. AMY IS A FLESH. BUT WHEN. IS THIS FROM SERIES FIVE WHEN SHE WAS A LITTLE GIRL WAITING OR ONLY AFTER SHE ENTERED THAT CREEPY ORPHANAGE IN THE IMPOSSIBLE ASTRONAUT? IS THIS WHOLE SERIES A DREAM (LIKE IN AMY'S CHOICE), IS THE DOCTOR WHO DIES IN THE IMPOSSIBLE ASTRONAUT A FLESH DOCTOR. TWO DOCTORS RUNNING AROUND. NO WAY. WHAT'S WITH THE WHOLE PREGNANCY THING? Ok, I admit that the pregnancy thing squicks me out a lot but in Moff I trust. Oh and I guessed that creepy cyborg lady was a midwife so yay for me :P
There was no trailer on the ABC for A Good Man Goes to War but I looked it up on YT. OMFG RIVER SONG. YAY. BUT WILL ANY OF MY QUESTIONS BE ANSWERED. Knowing Moffat, not until next bloody season...

Date: 2011-06-07 07:49 am (UTC)I'm still confused about when Amy was Flesh and when she wasn't. I am really REALLY hoping come September we start getting some REAL answers!

Date: 2011-06-07 08:03 am (UTC)Haha, I have a feeling there is a big, long term story in play here ie one that we won't see all of until the epic moment that Matt regenerates (though I hope its not for awhile)

You could try looking on the website for a trailer? Here they didn't show one on telly, but they put it on the BBC website straight away.

Date: 2011-06-07 08:16 am (UTC)And double doctor action was quite fun - didn't get where the switcharoo took place until on a second watch though. :/ I quite liked the storyline, but that was like a more fascinating sidestory - the Amy prejudice thing. Or whatever. *shrug*
A Good Man Goes To War is amazing, I really hope you'll like it! :D You saw the trailer, so you know what River said right? Well, what do you think? :)
Also, wow. My tags compared to yours is like. Wow. And this ep is when I really started to go slightly overboard I think - but it's so fun coming up with tags *grins* ;D

Date: 2011-06-07 08:28 am (UTC)I have to say, I think this two parter would get better upon rewatches because you would be less confused and also I imagine after AGMGTW more will become clear.
River said in the trailer "this is the day The Doctor finds out who I am" right. I still stand by my first ever River fan fic... River is a con woman and was paid by whoever is behind trying to destroy The Doctor to kill him/Rory for whatever reason. As it would be her first meeting with him (from her perspective) I am sure she would have no compunctions about this. My brother has his bets on her being Amy's daughter but I don't like that idea so much. Then again... could be a mixture of both?
Haha yeah, I try to keep my tags simple on here or I would never be able to refind anything. Yours are win though!

Date: 2011-06-07 11:56 am (UTC)Yeah, possibly. I mean, last year, I quite liked Amy's Choice, but it has definitely gotten better after a couple of re-watches. Or, not better, so much as me appreciating and liking it more.
I like that theory, I really do. :) I'm not saying anything though, keeping my mouth shut until you've watched it, so I don't tell you what my theory is and accidently confirm it or deny it while rambling on - would be so typical me to do that :P
Haha, thanks, and I'm getting a lot of inspiration from DE though I try to make my own and not stela theirs (apart from "phwoarr reptiles" because well, Moffat came up with that so I figured it's snaggable for tag use *grins*).

Date: 2011-06-08 03:09 am (UTC)Wow same re Amy's Choice! That one gets better and better each new time. It was a very clever episode.
Yeah DE's tags always make me LOL.

Date: 2011-06-08 03:08 am (UTC)But yes I loved that line! In general, I think the dialouge under Moffat as head writer has been far stronger s5 and 6.
