Spooks 10.4 was one mega yawn fest.

I agree with this commentator from the Vicky Frost blog: Basically, this series is all about filling in time until the Ruth & Harry's Borg Encounter thing is resolved, and I'm getting bored. Fun as it is to watch Erin (I can't decide whether she's from Deep Space Nine or The Colbys), not to mention her android daughter (who's utterly indifferent to being kidnapped by strangers, being quite happy to colour in with a bingo marker until Demetri swoops by), I am in rather a hurry for them to get to the point. I am beginning to think this should have been a three-episode miniseries, focusing entirely on Harry.

The best part was Ruth telling Harry he was "a stupid man." Wow Ruth. I've been saying that since series nine!

I tried to care about Erin's daughter but all that happened was I was reminded of Tom and Maisie back when the show had genuine tension. Also, if Dimitri and Erin get it on that will suck majorly. Oh who am I kidding? It will.

The whole Islamic terror plot thing just reminded me of 2.2 which was an amazing sixty minutes where I actually cared about everyone involved. Oh Series Two. I miss you so. Is it sad that I still miss the theme "Hold me Tight?" That always made me get a lump in my throat.

I don't care about anyone except Ruth, Elena and Sasha. I don't give a damn about the predictable plots of the week. Why do I get the feeling this is going to end in an epic train wreck?

So I went and watched episode two of The Slap, which had far more drama packed into its hour run time than Spooks did. Shame. Series 1-4 were so good.

BECAUSE IT IS SPOOKS and it hasn't been decent for a couple of years... that's why. I'm still watching it til the bitter end though.

DAMN THIS SHOW. I thought things were looking up after series seven recovering from the God awful series six, but then they royally fucked me over with the inconsistencies of eight and nine. Seriously show. Get some decent writers.

I'm watching it to the bitter end with you ;) And then probably writing copious amounts of fan fic and pretending it never ever happened.

I agree re: the "Stupid man" line. Best ever. Especially the way she said it to his face. Go Ruth!

Don't care much about the new team, there's not much point in getting attached to new characters for 6 episodes. That's what my poor fangirl heart is telling me anyway.

It was suprisingly venemous. Though I think that they've mucked up Ruth's characterisation again from s9-10. They're expecting us to bridge alot from 9.8 to 10.1. Nicola delivered the line so well though! It broke my heart (again).

I agree. I don't give a damn about anyone except Elena, Sasha and Ruth.

I'm only watching because there are just two more episodes to go and it will be the first time I have ever watched every single episode of any show. Otherwise, I would switch channels. But Nicola is still superb!

I'm with you there. I'm only watching coz Nicola isn't in anything else though flipping heck writers... WHEN THE HECK ARE YOU GOING TO GIVE THAT WOMAN SOMETHING TO DO?

They underused Nicola in s8 and remedied that in s9 and now I fear they have backtracked again for s10. Rubbish I tell you. Nicola is more quality than Spooks.

No Spooks hate from me. I still love it! I thought episodes 2 and 3 were a bit weak, but loved 1 and 4. I also think the ending will be pretty epic. Still easily one of the best things on TV by a mile.

To be fair I was pretty tired and grumpy when I wrote this :P

I have only written 1000 words of a 3000 word essay which I would like to have finished by today!!! Tired grumpy M ensues.

My brain keeps switching off. It did in 10.3 and again in 10.4. I think I might enjoy this better when I can watch again after semester ends.

Also, I am deeply bitter that they appear to be underusing Ruth YET AGAIN.

*hugs you* Stress = not good. ;)

It has been quality not quantity with Ruth though - but I have also been a little disappointed with her lack of screentime. I think the last 2 episodes could well make up for this though. *crosses everything* x

I HAVE THREE ASSIGNMENTS DUE MONDAY. THREE. AND IVE ONLY STARTED ONE OF THEM. STRESSSSSS

If they don't give Nicola more screentime the writers are idiots.

Also I still stand by my last sentence. The Slap was a far more thought provoking drama. It's a great show!

I have to say I really disagree, I think it's been a very good series. Yes, I mostly care about Sasha and Elena and that whole plot-line, but that's what we're supposed to be invested in. Since when have the plots-of-the-week really mattered? It may feel like they're biding time for the final episodes, but it doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed the buildup to them.

And I don't think Ruth is being underused - she has a pivotal role in the Harry/Gavrik thing, she's got her dilemma with leaving MI5 for civil service, so overall I think she has plenty to do, and will have more in the last 2 episodes.

I have not been bored, I have been intrigued. There's been old tradecraft. And some lovely dialogue inbetween. So I'm happy. *shrugs*

Fair enough. I disagree. If you've got good script writers you should be invested in everything, not just one part of the storyline, otherwise you're wasting screen time. The plots of the week have mattered to say things about the characters which is why I watch this show.

I enjoyed 10.1 and 10.2 was good but it made me hate the entire Grid for an episode, and then both 10.3 and 4 I found boring. 10.4 was so predictable it was ridiculous.

Ruth is underused imo when you compare s9 to 10 and they are back to making everything revolve around Harry again. I hate that. True, I was always going to hate that and was prepared but yeah... I wish there was a bit more of the stuff about being undervalued rather than longing Harry looks and stuff that she does to push the story arc forward more than anything else. Also, I am not ashamed to admit she is a better actress than everyone else and therefore more screen time makes me happy (though this is a rather biased argument as people could say the same for Peter or Max or whoever. I do acknowledge that)

Deep down I wanted the last series to be great; as in s1-4 and 7 great. For me, it's not.
