Well I joined [livejournal.com profile] lj_scribe and the prompt for this week was "living the dream." This is what I came up with where I was using the prompt metaphorically and no this is not based off anything real lol. It's just out of my messed up head.

Also, I dedicate this to Carol [livejournal.com profile] cianthecat because she has so much faith in my writing.

Title: The Actress is the Dream
Word Count: 252

I suppose I was staring, but what else was a girl to do? After all, she was the star and I was star struck.

I guess I didn’t expect to notice the thin, claw like fingers, the age spotted skin that was somehow still fabulous, the soft wavy hair that framed her in the camera as Asian, Jewish, English Rose and back again depending on what they wanted. I didn’t expect the spark of recognition in her eyes.

“I can’t believe you’re here again... why didn’t you tell my agent... get a pass organised or something?”

Maybe because I don’t know you, Miss Larger Than Life, Miss Famous Lady That People Get Proud And Lucky To Meet. Maybe because last time it was only the once? I don’t say that of course. I shrug my shoulders.

I notice there are crowfeet around her eyes, I notice she looks tired. It comes out and I shock myself with my audacity, “You look thin.” I can’t conceal the disapproval.

She doesn’t reply. There’s no one else around. She draws her arm around me confidingly and I think I see tears. “It’s a load of crap you know.”

“Why didn’t you opt out? Twelve series is a lot.”

She smiles, that battling, brittle smile that gets to everyone Sunday night on the tele. “Too late now isn’t it.”

She clutches on tight to my hand, maybe tighter than she should (from one fan to another) and I hold on too.

Like I said, star struck.

I like the idea of being propmted every week... surely it can only be a good thing for my writing yes?

I am two thirds of the way through Gaiman's Smoke and Mirrors and thanks to everyone who recc'd coz it is AMAZING! Also, am nearlly finished Kate Elliott's Crossroad's Trilogy and I will be sure to review alongside Smoke and Mirrors. I am also reading Dreaming of Amelia by Jaclyn Moriarty and that will also get a write up lol.

Polling is underway for the [livejournal.com profile] nicola_walker comm so if you are a member and haven't voted for the new comm name get voting, and if you are a Nicola fan on my flist who hasn't joined the comm why the frak not LOL.

You're a very good writer. Keep it coming ;)

And you're reading Gaiman, huh? Are you doing what I did, reading it as preparation and research for the upcoming ep, or did you just feel like reading a book by him? :)

I myself am currebtly reading American Gods, a few chapters in so far, really rather like it. ^^

Haha, I figured, or it'd have a very welltimed coincidence *grins* And yeah, it is, you've been a busy girl ^^ I only managed two books during the week between 6x03 and the Gaiman ep, but I blame that on the library being hopelessly behind *shakes head*

Oh, AG is so far really good. It's odd and strange, and I don't find it laugh-out-loud funny, but then it don't need to be. It's sort of quietly amusing, while being quite fascinating and I keep getting wanting to read more when I have to put it down. So yeah. It's good. ^^

Was Anansi Boys good? I'm thinking of reading that one next. :)
