Short story/drabble plus books
May. 20th, 2011 11:38 pmWell I joined
lj_scribe and the prompt for this week was "living the dream." This is what I came up with where I was using the prompt metaphorically and no this is not based off anything real lol. It's just out of my messed up head.
Also, I dedicate this to Carol
cianthecat because she has so much faith in my writing.
Title: The Actress is the Dream
Word Count: 252
I suppose I was staring, but what else was a girl to do? After all, she was the star and I was star struck.
I guess I didn’t expect to notice the thin, claw like fingers, the age spotted skin that was somehow still fabulous, the soft wavy hair that framed her in the camera as Asian, Jewish, English Rose and back again depending on what they wanted. I didn’t expect the spark of recognition in her eyes.
“I can’t believe you’re here again... why didn’t you tell my agent... get a pass organised or something?”
Maybe because I don’t know you, Miss Larger Than Life, Miss Famous Lady That People Get Proud And Lucky To Meet. Maybe because last time it was only the once? I don’t say that of course. I shrug my shoulders.
I notice there are crowfeet around her eyes, I notice she looks tired. It comes out and I shock myself with my audacity, “You look thin.” I can’t conceal the disapproval.
She doesn’t reply. There’s no one else around. She draws her arm around me confidingly and I think I see tears. “It’s a load of crap you know.”
“Why didn’t you opt out? Twelve series is a lot.”
She smiles, that battling, brittle smile that gets to everyone Sunday night on the tele. “Too late now isn’t it.”
She clutches on tight to my hand, maybe tighter than she should (from one fan to another) and I hold on too.
Like I said, star struck.

I like the idea of being propmted every week... surely it can only be a good thing for my writing yes?

Date: 2011-05-27 01:16 pm (UTC)I said Ros&Jo, but the others reviewers didn't seem to agree with me on that one...
Everyone said Harry&Ruth, but you already wrote one so I don't think I'll be that... It all depends, if it's series 8 context, then I go for Ros&Jo.
Miss Ros too so much! Haha the fork! I also love when she threatens the FSB guy with a pen in 7.1 and he's terrified. :)
