You follow a Spooks link to a website on the new eight part tv series entitled World Without End because Peter Firth has been cast in it and discover Miranda Richardson's gorgeous face on your screen and then get excited because this lovely lady hasn't been in anything substantial in like forever (and yes I am aware of Made in Dagenham) and frankly is far, far more exciting a cast edition than Peter Firth... after all who could ever forget Queen Mab in Merlin or the chillingly cold mother in Wah Wah or the stepmother in Sleepy Hollow or Manda scarring me for life as a kid in Chicken Run or THREE PARTS AT ONCE IN SPIDER. THREE. MIRANDA RICHARDSON SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN AN OSCAR THAT YEAR I TELL YOU.

Also, when you remember Helena Bonham Carter has been cast in Great Expectatons as Ms Havisham and might even be up for the Tom Hooper movie version of Les Miserables as Madame Thernadier. Life doesn't get any better...

That is a gorgeous picture of her there =)

But wait, Miranda Richardson was in Chicken Run?!?!?!?! *runs to look this all up* I never knew that!!!!

However, you ought to know better, being at Oxford at the moment and all that. "SHOULD OF"....

*tuts*

World without end? I must check this out. =)
Seems like you dislike Peter Firth, I don't get that... ;)

I like Miranda Richardson and HBC in Les Misérables would be fantastic. I didn't even know Tom Hooper was directing a new version of it, I love this book!

Whaaaaat?? :P Not from my perspective, lol. Though, I do really like Miranda and am liking the look of this cast. Tom Weston-Jones will also be in Season 10 of Spooks.

Very much looking forward to this next year. :)

Give me a break Nia... I'm speed updating here... typos will happen ;)

She was the voice of the farmers wive and really scared me!

haha I don't dislike PF. I'm just indifferent. Miranda Richardson is my second favourite actress bear in mind after Helena (or maybe she ties with Nicola but anyway she's high up k?)

HELENA IN LES MIS IS MORE THAN FANTASTIC. IT IS MY DREAMS COMING TRUE. "MASTER OF THE HOUSE..."

Haha I didn't mean you all had to agree with me. I just meant in my opinion Manda is more exciting. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT MIRANDA RICHARDSON HERE. MIRANDA. RICHARDSON. SHE IS AMAZING OK? lol ;)

You could always try and convert me to the Peter Firth camp?I've just never particularly seen him in something other than Spooks that is a noteworthy performance but that's not to say I haven't been watching the right things and can reform...

Sorry, that sentence makes no sense. Basically, I meant that you could convert me because I could maybe reform if I saw PF in something halfway decent that wasn't spooks.

I am tired. I'm at Oxford. Give me credit for trying ;)

I need to rewatch this film. I remember being absolutely terrified by it when I was younger, especially the bit in the pie machine, but I've not seen it for zonks. That's in spite of it being shown on tv every Christmas... (Why, I don't know - it's not even a Christman film!)

*thanks for not pointing out that I wrote wive instead of wife lol* Must be way more tired than I feel.

The pie machine was so horrid and how the wife pulled on her gloves and looked all menacing *shudders* DAMN YOU AARDMAN. DAMN YOU. BUT YAY FOR WALLACE AND GROMIT.

Take a break if you're tired dear, and don't pay attention to slightly crazy Peter lovers like my own self. ;)
Actually he was great in every movie or show I saw him play in, but I don't know what you saw of him so...
As for your comment, HBC + Tom Hooper + Victor Hugo = OMG! =)
But we don't know if she'll be in it for sure, right? I do hope she will be.

I didn't notice that one anyway. Must be true that staring at a computer screen for too long messes with your head...

I agree with the sentiments expressed. Exactly so.

I can't take a break sadly. I have to go meet my history convenor for something or rather that is listed in my program lol.

Reccomend me some Peter Firth baby... preferably something I can acess on you tube ;) I've seen him in Pearl harbour (DEATH I TELL YOU) and another show that I can't remember much about at all. It was a tv show though not a movie.

She's rumoured at the moment. I'm jumping the gun. BUT WHO CARES? I SHALL BE JOYOUS UNTIL THEY CAST SOMEBODY ELSE ;)

One of my favourite moments in anything relating to tv ever is that robot creature skiing on the moon in wonder as the wallace and gromit theme rolls. Great moment.

I should specify I am talking about the moon one. Big Day Out or something?

You still need converting after the awesomeness of his performance as Harry Pearce?? Lol! ;)

Okay, I do agree that it is always good to see an actor in other roles, but Peter's best roles arguably came early in his career - in Equus and The Flipside of Dominic Hide/Another Flip For Dominic. I also loved him in Letter to Brezhnev. He has not been in the greatest of productions it has to be said, but in those I have seen, his acting has been excellent and he's done well with what he has been given. His TV roles in The Vice and Law & Order:SVU were also very well acted. His brief appearance as the doctor in Shadowlands was also noteworthy (one of my favourite films of all time).

....and I do give you credit for trying, especially when tired! ;) x

I don't think I've seen Miranda Richardson in anything in forever. I do remember her in Merlin though, and I really like her in that one. I do believe it was the first thing I saw with her, and it's what made me like her in the first place :D

Same! As a small ten year old girl I always DID have to shed a tear for poor, misunderstood Mab. I could write meta on Merlin forever.

Do you know if these are available on youtube? I shall go watch these if and when I can otherwise :)

Well to be honest with Spooks, I don't feel that Peter necessarily gets a lot of room to move acting wise. That's why I'd like to see him in something else that's not Pearl Harbour :P

I don't think they are on YouTube, but I will have a look around.

Here's a good clip of him in a drama called 'Blood and Oil':

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dW4sGTnUEeo

(just to get an idea of a role that is not Harry-esque) ;)

I suppose he does act within himself as Harry most of the time, but I still think the range has been well showcased over the seasons. I take your point though, and am looking forward to seeing him playing Earl Roland - who ironically is 'ruthless' according to the blurb about World Without End. ;)
