As I said in my previous two posts, I was very disappointed, nay, nearlly incandecent with rage at how terrible the last Deverry book was (The Silver Mage) and to my surprise and also relief, I found that both AmethystDragon and Brendan Podger had their issues with the novel too.

We vented together and ranted about how saddened we were by the junk we had read, but now I feel that, as a good LJ friend I should be here to comfort.

To everyone who read and loved the Deverry Saga only to be shot down with a truly shitty ending, I give you some humour, and then some book reccommendations. May you feel better afterwards. I certainly did.

This song is bound to bury the hatchet, it suited my attitude on finishing the book perfectly and is insane enough to shock you out of your pain :P... if the song alone dosen't cure your sadness and despair, watch the clip underneath. If you are not giggling by then you are not human ;)

Book Reccomendations for series that end well...

1. Philip Pullman: His Dark Materials and Sally Lockhart quartet are both brilliant
2. Melanie Rawn: Dragon Prince series
3. Juliet Mariller's Sevenwaters trilogy: this one is amazing- reccomended highly :)

Feel free to suggest other books :)

I hope this post made someone happy! Hearts to all my LJ friends, and apologies to those who had their hearts broken (mine included)

ps: one last politically incorrect booster:

I really liked the first Dark Materials book. Need to read the other two. Haven't heard of the other two series.

Yeah its an excellent series. Much better than the movie, which aside from having Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig as Mrs Coulter and Lord Asriel sucked.

This is a random question, but have you read anything by Anthony Horowitz? I'm keen to start on some of his stuff.

Not yet. What sort of stuff does he write?

Spy/mystery novels. He also scriptwrites for the BBC. He wrote the hugely successful drama Foyles War

Love the links and what a way to earworm somebody! Just give them a double whammy of the same song! ROTFLMAO! Seriously (yeah, as if that could be taken seriously *grin*) the image clip was pretty funny.

And nice touch with giving us some Monty Python! I started laughing as soon as I clicked on the link! You have made someone's day! :)

I actually love that song! It's so wrong but so damn catchy... "oh I could throw you in the lake/or feed you poisoned birthday cake" It was so good I gave it twice :)

I thought you'd appreciate some MP

Any book suggestions to share?

Yeah, I'll be singing that all day at work tomorrow (today since it's after midnight?) how appropriate is that??? I think it fits the way I feel about several of my coworkers. *evil hand wringing grin*

To be perfectly honest with you, even though I have been reading Deverry for a long time, I am fairly new to the whole Scifi/Fantasy genre. Mainly it is due to the lack of time I have to read, so really I am so far behind and have much catching up to really be on the same level as many of other fellow readers. My best suggestion to share is one that was recommended to me. That would be Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising series. I was so honestly blown away by the books and would recommend that to anybody and everybody just because it was so good. I was told to start with Dark even though it is supposed to be the second book then read the rest in order. I am really glad I did that because my first reaction was WOW! And to hell with it supposedly being a children's series. It really seems much more along the lines of something all ages would enjoy. I had been warned to stay away from the film, though. I seen the trailer for it and I would have to agree, just that alone turned my gut.

I'll look it up :)

And that always happens with book to film adaptations with the exception of when the BBC is involved or LOTR
